The Ash's are a one car family!
I feel compelled to write and talk about our first month with only one car. I sold the VW GTI just before Thanksgiving. Winter was not the best time to decide to commute via bike. But the temperatures in Boulder have been great so it was no big deal.
Money was our main motivation. Check out this math:
Car payment: $6,000/yr
Insurance: $1,000/yr
Maintenance: $1,000/yr
Fuel: $1,200/yr
TOTAL: $9,200/yr = $766/mo = $25 day. (Crazy how much this all adds up!)
Here are my various alternatives:
1. Bike - The Gitane Fixed Gear gets me around town in style. $400.00
2. Bus - The RTD Bus #208 picks me up 2 blocks from my house and drops me off 2 blocks from work. Perfect. $2.00 each way.
3. The A4 - Brendan has been driving the Audi, but i can take it if we need it.
4. Work Truck - I use a company pickup for getting back and forth to meetings. Free.
5. Piaggio - The scooter is not the best in the winter. But I can rock it in the summer. $0.50/day in fuel.
So we will see how this goes. The bike is by far the best. My route is all bike paths and it gets me to work in 15-20 minutes, which is just as fast as driving.

Ride to the Maroon Bells - Aspen
We rode to the Maroon Bells on Sunday. Check out the aspen trees. The colors were great. This is a classic ride and the fall colors make it so much more special. I pulled the Chariot for the 10 mile 1,600 foot climb. Trust me, it was harder than it looks. I was spent but SEA loved the 40+ mph ride down.
Balloon Fest - Snowmass
It was balloon fest in Snowmass this weekend. We got some great views from the house. But the night time Balloon Glow was the highlight. Pretty impressive.

Walking videos
After her high altitude training camp in Aspen last weekend, SEA came back down to Boulder and started rocking around the Ash Compound. This will probably be the first of many videos. Enjoy.

Concert at Chautauqua
We hit Chautauqua for a little concert and picnic. Daddy and the crew enjoyed adult beverages while the kids played on the rocks.
Father's Day Fixed Gear Ride
We took the bikes around town on Father's Day. SEA had fun in the trailer with her new helmet.
